Feeds Module - Compilation of learning resources on the web...

This is a little departure from the Blogging approach per se` as I will refer to the great resources on the web that I discovered while learning about topics... In the article, I will cover the feeds module in Drupal 7. Topics covered here are mentioned in the beginning. I will also try and mention some of the key things I noted along the learning path.

  1. The Drupal Page [http://drupal.org/project/feeds] is the main page for this module. The documentation for this module is pretty good actually, when compared with other modules. It is very actively maintained, the updates are regular and the releases are current.
  2. If you are totally new with the concept of Feeds or know what it is but not how it works exactly, then it will be nice to start off with some basics about it.
    1. Some of my favorite places are www.google.com or www.youtube.com and the www.wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_feed). Do your search and spend some time and you will learn a lot more than you already know in a very little time.
    2. I also look at www.about.com (http://webdesign.about.com/od/rss/a/what_is_rss.htm ), www.eHow.com or www.howstuffworks.com (http://www.howstuffworks.com/internet/basics/rss.htm).
  3. The drupal projects pages provides link to the Feeds DOCUMENTATION (http://drupal.org/node/622696) and the THREE SCREENCASTS (http://developmentseed.org/blog/2009/dec/15/importing-and-aggregating-stuff-feeds/) on the development seed website. This is a very good starting point on the feeds module for drupal 7.
  4. The PubSubHubBub (http://code.google.com/p/pubsubhubbub/) introduction video on the Google Code website for is a great starting point. It talks about the basic concept of the evolving Publisher-Subscriber-Hub model on the Internet.
  5. http://drupal.org/node/622698 is the webpage where the Site builder's guide to the Feeds Module is. You will find all the information on this page that you will need to get rolling with the Feeds Module.
  6. One screencast that I must mention in particular is by the Atlanta User Group. It is hosted on the tutr.tv website here (http://tutr.tv/t126).
